Fairbrook Apartments, located in Aberdeen, Maryland is a four story apartment building for residents over the age of 50. It consists of 122, one and two bedroom apartments and was originally built in the 1990s. The entire building was renovated and upgraded with all new windows, insulation, finishes, appliances, fixtures, etc. All of this was to update the units to current trends and evolve the building into a more energy conscious structure. Exterior finishes were replaced and the first floor community spaces were redesigned to allow for more resident oriented spaces, that are inviting and open to community engagement. Spaces include a seating/waiting area in the lobby and a more open community room with warming kitchen for larger events. Existing amenities like a greenhouse, library and outdoor spaces were upgraded for accessibility and all units were properly upgraded to meet Fair Housing. A percentage of the units were also redesigned to meet UFAS accessibility standards.
