The project consists of nineteen 2 story wood frame affordable single family three bedroom two and half bath homes and three accessible 1 story three bedroom and two bath homes for family living and its subsequent site improvements to support such project. It is located in Glen Burnie, Maryland in Anne Arundel County. The site is situated off of MD Route 100 near the intersections of Oakwood Road and Crab Apple Court.
Recently, this project was reviewed with great acclaim on industry sites. The community is clearly behind these achievements. The project exterior is approximately 25% cultured stone veneer and 25% brick veneer with the remaining 50% balance is cementitous siding. The windows are single hung high efficiency low-e glazing in vinyl frame. The exterior wall envelope utilizes closed cell spray foam insulation to create not only a high insulating value but a virtually air impervious assembly. All material being specified meets or exceeds DHCD Base Energy Certification. Also Energy Star Appliance and practices are being incorporated into the overall design and construction of the building. The roofing is architectural grade fiberglass shingles with accents of metal roofing at the returned gables. All trim will be synthetic and will require little maintenance.
The community building is situated at the entrance of the community. The leasing and managers office is located within the leasing office building. Additional common areas include a large community room and adjacent lounge/kitchenette area, storage and utility area, an exercise room, restrooms and computer room.
The homes are spacious and well designed so that the residents will have full opportunities to enjoy their units as well as the gracious common areas. The unit mix is for three units (10%) being accessible per UFAS standards and an additional unit (2%) will have amenities for the visual and hearing impaired residents. All the units are planned for washer/dryers within the units. The kitchen cabinets are durable wood cabinets with solid wood doors and plywood boxes. The units are also appointed with Energy Star appliances and light fixtures. The plumbing fixtures are water conserving models.
